Hi Dancers and Parents
We had previously announced that the COMP TEAM AUDITION would be held later in the summer. However, Ashley and I have just reviewed the possibilities of dates due to her summer obligations out of state. She will be in Rexburg during dance camp week, and won’t be returning until the end of August.
For this reason, we have decided to go ahead and hold the audition next week during Dance Camp week. We are aware that some dancers have previous commitments such as Girls Camp or out of town work.
For dancers unable to attend in person, please contact Coach Ashley at 208-419-2888. She will let you know if she would like to see a video of your dancing.
AUDITION: at IBA STUDIO
Mon, June 26: 8-10 pm Learn audition routines
Tues, June 27: 8-10 pm Practice audition routines as needed
Thurs, June 29, 8-10 pm AUDITION.
Requirements: - Dancers must be in 10th - 12th grade. Dancers in 9th grade may audition by invitation only. - Dancers do not need to bring a partner - Dancers should come in appropriate dance gear - The audition is not restricted to current IBA Dancers - Comp team dancers must take (in the fall/winter) either the tech class or semi-private lessons in additional to the comp team practices Audition Registration click here. Reminder - dancers on the previous year’s audition teams are not guaranteed a spot on the next year’s teams. All dancers must audition each year.
FAQs
DO I NEED TO DO THE REGISTRATION FORM BEFORE THE AUDITION?
Yes. If you come and haven’t submitted the audition form, we’ll have you do it before the audition begins.
HOW OFTEN IS THE PRACTICE and WHAT IS THE SCHEDULE?
The comp team will meet twice a week for 1.5 hours each. Schedule tba.
IF I HAVE AN ACTIVITY THAT CONFLICTS WITH TEAM PRACTICE, SHOULD I TRY OUT?
Maybe. Each dancer’s conflict will be evaluated by the coaches/directors on a case-by-case basis. Some conflicts are workable and others are not.
WILL THE AUDITION TEAM COMPETE SYLLABUS?
Yes, the comp team dancers will compete the Rhythm and Smooth syllabus dances along with Bonus Swing.
WHAT KIND OF ROUTINES DOES THE AUDITION TEAM DO?
The comp team does show routines, not medleys.
WHAT OTHER CLASSES ARE REQUIRED?
The comp team dancers are required to take the Tech class and/or semi-private lessons.
CAN DANCERS DO BOTH THE COMP TEAM AND A REGULAR SHOW TEAM?
Yes, in fact we will need most of the boys to do both to fill all the Senior teams
