WE WOULD LOVE FOR YOU TO JOIN OUR IBA FAMILY

The Idaho Ballroom Academy is a program for youth ages 6 - 18. Dancers meet once a week during the school year for a team practice
to learn performance routines and ballroom technique. They perform at many local events including half-times, floor shows, school assemblies, and concerts. During the summer they rotate traveling to Prague to perform in a festival, Southern California or the East Coast for a family-based travel performance experience.

"OUR UNDERLYING DESIRE IS FOR OUR YOUNG DANCERS TO BECOME LIFETIME DANCERS."

Our Story

The Idaho Ballroom Academy started in 1998 when Shawn Fisher was asked to take over a small struggling 8-couple youth team. We thought it was a one-year one-time deal. It has now grown into a full program in Rexburg serving over 400 students a year on 20 teams.

Our Vision

Our underlying desire is for our young dancers to become lifetime dancers. Ballroom dancing is one of the greatest life skills, but has largely died out as a social activity in our communities. We hope that the dancers will come to love ballroom dancing and take it into their marriages, families and communities so that it will once again become a vibrant social activity that will live on for generations.

TESTIMONIALS

"I FEEL IN AWE
OF HOW MANY PEOPLE'S LIVES YOUR PROGRAM HAS TOUCHED AND INFLUENCED."

"Every year I feel so much amazement as I watch the final spring show. I look at all those many many kids on stage for the finale and feel in awe of how many people's lives your program has touched and influenced. The organization and coordination that a program of this scale just blows my mind yet you manage it all so gracefully and professionally.

There is a wide variety in all the different costumes and choreography. You have influenced and affected our whole family through the culture of this program and I wanted to take a minute tonight to tell you of our gratitudeand admiration."

Dianne and Bradley Petersen and family

"As parents of five sons (no daughters) my husband and I wondered where to seek help to raise our sons with knowledge of how to appropriately interact with girls since they had no opportunity to practice at home. Idaho Ballroom Academy has been an answer to our question and much much more.

One of the main goals of IBA is to develop a love of ballroom dance that extends beyond one's youth.  I am most appreciative of the vision of IBA that they support a "well rounded" dancer.  Through the years our sons have all been involved with sports, music, academics, student council,  scouting and much more.

Now, I won't say it has been easy making it possible for our sons to honor all commitments, but through the help of great carpools, planning and flexibility, ballroom has fit very well in their lives. (In fact they would rather go to ballroom because there are no cute girls at scouts).  We are extremely grateful to Shawn and Janie Fisher and our entire IBA family for their influence on our sons."
